Job Concept
Wildlife Prairie park is an outdoor, recreational, wildlife park and family friendly facility. Often referred to as "the jewel of the Midwest", we are home to approximately 150 animals all native species to the Midwest, a variety of hiking trails, unique lodging, mountain biking trails and much more. The park is also host to a number of events throughout the year surrounding major holidays (Christmas, Easter and Halloween) and small evets and programs with an emphasis on environmental education. It is the responsibility of the Naturalist to help create and then deliver these many programs and events.
Primary Responsibilities
Conducting and assisting with various interpretive programs for school groups
Presenting daily interpretive programs to the general public
Conducting interpretive programs at special functions
Assisting with special events such as Night in the Wild, Wildlife Scary Park and Old English Fair
Assisting in certain opening and closing procedures and trail monitoring; researching materials and designing static education displays; and any number of daily and or special activities that fall under the allocation of the education department.
Assist in the care and handling of raptors, reptiles, amphibians and mammals for educational purposes.
Job skills and requirements
Bachelor's degree in one of the following or related field; education, environmental science, biology or related subjects
1-2 years' previous experience with environmental public education
Experience being involved in the processes of events is preferred
Excellent communication skills
Customer Service skills
General computer skills
Problem solving skills
Time management skills
Experience working with volunteers a plus
40 hr work week. Will require working both weekdays and weekends and some holidays. Some evenings will be required for special events and programs.

Fulltime employees are eligible for benefits that include medical, dental and vision insurance, life insurance, and vacation. An optional retirement program is available. Employee contributions are matched up to 3%.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
